GAIA Architectures:
Geo Architecture Integration Association
GAIA Architectures is a progressive and contemporary design and construction studio.
Engaged in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and comprehensive planning.
Based in Arachova, Athens and Rethymno.
HISTORY
The Arachova based studio was founded in 1981. In that first time, it was owned and operated by partners Andreas Seferlis and Maria Frantzi. Since then, the activity expans through place and human resources. The nowadays supporting multidisciplinary design team spans three basic nodes of activity and features a fertile mix of professional and educational backgrounds. The core team is complemented with a strong and growing network of collaborators across Greece.
GAIA Architectures as:
- Geo Architecture Integration refers to the concept of inclusion, integration and the holistic approach for each project of any scale.
- Association refers to the networking and collectivity as well as the synergy of all professionals needed to succeed a complete approach of the project/work
APPROACH
In GAIA our intervention is in a dialectic relationship with the surrounding environment. Ιn our work, we take into consideration a variety of equally important aspects such as the common space, the public space, the optical getaways, the historical and social background.
We aim in a compatible and qualified ground of intervention possibilities (construction, redevelopment, gentrification, restoration, renovation), keeping a constant dialogue with the current physiognomy while we respect the local timeless character.
When we attempt Architectural building, landscape and urban planning of any scale, we interpret them taking into consideration the place identity. The local ecosystem physiognomy faces the needs of the each project, meeting the focal points and the social relationships of the users interpreted as if created from local identity in the first place.
We aim to provide holistic solutions that blend ecosystem, economy, technology, identity and community. Our values’ enrichment comes from the interaction with each customer end user of the places we create, inquire and respect our customer’s priorities through feedback alternatives and personal fulfillment. Finally, our ultimate goal is the co-appreciation and satisfaction we take being in the space we created as a result of our common effort.
METHOD
GAIAs projects are driven by a flexible set of methods that guide us through the design process. We have three consistent cornerstones of our work: comprehensive analysis of a project site, a rigorous and thorough experimentation process and the development of clear conceptual narratives.
